Leadership Definition

Leadership definition could be interpreted as the simple meaning of a word. For example, leadership could be defined as the ability to lead - that is to guide, direct, influence or inspire.

However, one word explanations don't really do much to help us understand complex concepts, and leadership can certainly be defined as that!

In these pages you'll find more than simple definitions. Here you'll find a growing collection of articles, tips, tools and resources.

nelson-mandela-leadership-definitionTo us, leadership definition means the shape of leadership, so here you'll find plenty to help shape your understanding of leadership - theory and practice! We bring together ideas that have helped shape the existing world of work, and those which are now starting to shape the future.

A happy manager is a thinking manager but it’s far too easy to allow work pressures to control or narrow our thoughts.

Yet it’s often the fresh thinking that generates new ideas, leads to fruitful conversations, or results in better ways to work. These help us overcome the very pressures that stop us taking time out to think in the first place.

What is shaping our culture and practice? Where do we get our ideas? As managers where can we get fresh perspectives and insights? Finding time to address these questions is a constant challenge and even if we find that time, how many managers can waste it filtering the mass of information around us, in search of items of real worth?
